Professional Learning for Connected Practice

NEXIE Early Years Professional Learning Suite

Shared understanding. Role-specific capability. One connected team.

Common foundations bring teachers, educators, support staff and leaders into one developmental language. Role-specific pathways then help each participant apply the learning according to their qualifications, responsibilities and professional scope.

Teachers, educators, support staff and service leaders learning collaboratively in an early-learning environment
Everyone learns the central principles. Each role applies them appropriately.

Shared Foundations

Build a language the whole team
can use.

Shared learning builds consistency without expecting every participant to perform the same functions.

Questions and Answers

Understand the professional-learning pathway
before you begin.

Who is the NEXIE Early Years Professional Learning Suite for?

The Suite is designed for early childhood teachers, preschool teachers, educational leaders, educators, support staff, SLSOs, nominated supervisors, principals with preschool responsibilities and other approved personnel working with young children and families.

Participants begin with shared foundations and then follow learning appropriate to their role, qualifications and responsibilities.

Why are there separate teacher and educator pathways?

Teachers, educational leaders, educators and support staff contribute to children’s learning in different but connected ways.

The pathways provide a shared developmental language without assuming that every participant has the same qualifications, authority or responsibilities.

Teachers and authorised educational leaders may focus more deeply on curriculum leadership, assessment, planning and implementation. Educators and support personnel focus on applying developmental understanding through everyday relationships, play, participation, communication and environments.

Can a whole team complete the learning together?

Yes. Whole-team learning is encouraged because consistent understanding helps children and families experience a more connected approach.

Teams can complete the Shared Foundations together before moving into role-specific learning and workplace application. They may then return to whole-team reflection, implementation planning and continuous improvement.

Is this the same as NEXIE Foundations?

No. The two pathways are connected but serve different purposes.

The NEXIE Early Years Professional Learning Suite develops individual and team capability.

NEXIE Foundations is a broader whole-service implementation pathway that connects professional learning with philosophy, curriculum, children’s Blueprint-informed planning, family partnership, developmental environments and continuous improvement.

A service may access professional learning independently or include it within the complete NEXIE Foundations pathway.

Is this the same as the Early Years Applied Learning Suite for RTOs?

No. The Early Years Applied Learning Suite provides proprietary contextualisation and applied-learning resources that an approved RTO may use alongside relevant nationally recognised Early Childhood Education and Care training.

The Professional Learning Suite is designed primarily for existing teachers, educators, leaders and support staff developing capability within their current professional or workplace context.

Neither Suite is itself a nationally recognised qualification.

Does this professional learning change my qualification or professional role?

No. Completing NEXIE professional learning does not change a participant’s qualification, employment classification, registration, role description or authorised responsibilities.

Participants must continue to work within their qualifications, professional scope, service policies, supervision arrangements and applicable legal and safeguarding requirements.

Can the Teacher and Educational Leader Pathway be used for teacher accreditation?

The pathway can support professional reflection, applied-practice evidence and the development of professional-learning records.

Any claim that learning satisfies teacher-accreditation requirements—including accredited or elective professional development—must be determined according to the requirements and approval processes of the relevant teacher-accreditation authority.

NEXIE participation does not automatically provide or alter teacher accreditation.

Does Blueprint-informed observation diagnose or classify a child?

No. Blueprint-informed observation is an educational, strengths-based process for understanding communication, relationships, regulation, participation, learning and environmental compatibility.

It does not diagnose, clinically assess or permanently categorise a child. When concerns require specialist assessment or intervention, participants must follow service procedures and refer families to appropriately qualified professionals.

Can professional learning be customised for our service?

The access pathway may be adapted to the service setting, workforce roles, existing capability and implementation priorities while preserving the approved NEXIE Method and professional boundaries.

Delivery may combine shared learning, role-specific pathways, workshops, facilitated reflection, CARIE circles, leadership sessions, workplace projects and portable resources.

Will participants receive certification?

Participants may receive appropriate evidence of completion for the proprietary NEXIE learning they undertake.

Evidence of completion is not a nationally recognised qualification, professional registration, teacher accreditation or automatic authorisation to deliver protected NEXIE Productised Services commercially.

Any specialist or licensed-delivery pathway has its own preparation, capability and use-right requirements.

Purpose. Pathway. Possibility.

Build shared understanding. Strengthen every role.
Create connected practice.
